I live with my husband in western Massachusetts, USA, where we raised three sons, but I grew up in Connecticut. When I was a kid, my best friend was an awesome artist. I’d sit by her side and watch her draw. I tried to learn from her, but my drawings were dreadful. So instead of feeling sorry for myself, I found another purpose for that pencil in my hand. I started to write stories and poems. And I kept on writing them.

When I was eight years old, a poem I wrote was posted on the main bulletin board outside the school principal’s office. That was a big deal—to have my words honored along with poems by kids in our school, including the big kids in eighth grade.
All through school, I was the only one of my friends who’d be leap-in-the-hallways happy about writing reports for homework. I wrote lots of them! Did I get tired of writing? Obviously not, as my high school yearbook listing shows.

Eventually I got a job working in advertising, then I began my own freelance writing business. I wrote ads, brochures, radio commercials, magazine articles, and more for all kinds of businesses.
Now I write stories and poems for kids—and sometimes for adults—but mostly, I write picture books. It’s my favorite thing to do. My second favorite thing? Photography! You’ll find lots of my photos on this website. I hope you enjoy them.
